On August 28, 2001, a group of twelve Knox County and Bell County, Kentucky, firefighters and interested citizens gathered at Barbourville Fire Department to organize a Fire Historical Society.

The mission of the Appalachian Foothills Fire Historical Society is to preserve, collect, record and exhibit the history of the fire services along the western foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, as well as teach and promote fire prevention and fire safety to its citizens.

We are losing our history with each day we allow to pass without recording that history.  It is the desire of this Society to preserve that history for the viewing and education of future generations.  Your support is needed.

We want to invite you to join us in this very important mission.  Your support is needed in manpower as well as financially through membership in the organization.  Please go to the link below for membership information.

Please join us and assist in laying the groundwork for this significant endeavor.

Please JOIN US in our quest to preserve our heritage!
